You are here: Claiming ownership
Claiming ownership
Claiming ownership of a document locks the copy of the document in all vaults except the current vault and unlocks the copy at the current vault. It also updates the status information that is shown at all collaborating sites. Claiming ownership requires:
- The current site must be enlisted for the selected document as described in Enlisting a remote vault.
- A copy of the document must already exist at the current site, made by one of the GCF scheduled transfers.
- The selected document must not be owned by any other collaborating site. If the document is already owned by another site, a user at that site must transfer ownership to your site as described in Transferring ownership.
To claim ownership of a document:
- In Meridian Enterprise PowerUser, select the document for which you want to transfer ownership.
- Click the Collaboration Status tab. The Collaboration Status property page appears.
- Click Claim. The Claim Ownership dialog box appears and ownership will be transferred by the next GCF scheduled transfer.
- Click OK to close the dialog.
- Click OK to save your changes.
Note It may not always be possible to claim ownership of a document, particularly if the document has been manually locked or is locked in a local workspace.
